Team LINEA is not a traditional architecture firm. We are a multi-disciplinary design and consulting practice built at the intersection of architecture, construction, and building science.

Our Evolution
Team LINEA was built from the ground up through design and construction experience.

2000 Steven Johnson founded Brown Dog Designs, rooted in hands-on construction and residential design

2008 Steven Passed North Carolina Board of Architecture Licensing Exam and General Contractor exam and continued private practice.

2012 Steven expanded private design practice in Design-Build with A408 Studio.

2016 Steven launch Steven Johnson Architect (SJA), focused on architecture, forensic architecture, and construction consulting.

2023 Elizabeth Lufbery joins SJA and leads formation of Team LINEA Architecture + Interiors PLLC, strengthening residential and interior design services

2024 Toby Welch joins Steven Principal Partner and President, strengthening construction services, field operations, and building forensics. Steven assumes rule as CEO and together with Elizabeth, they focus on Building Knowledge, a mission and vision for long-term growth and industry education.

2025 Steven and Toby begin strategic expansion into a fully integrated leadership team including advancing Elizabeth as a Managing Partner focusing on interior design and residential services; and drawing from other industries and experience the team invites Suzanne Norris as Managing Partner and CFO, and Jeff Welch as Managing Partner of Technology and strategic data management.

2006, Team LINEA expanded their Building Knowledge welcoming Courtney Mackrell, interior designer; Porter Welch, business development; and both Kevin Martin and Rob Jessup as Regional Project Managers following strategic opportunities in the Southeast including Virginia, South Carolina, Georgia, Alabama and Florida.
